“Resist Climate Saboteurs.” Transform COP30 Site Entrance, Calling on World Leaders to Act on Climate Without U.S. President Trump

Belém, Brazil — On the morning of Wednesday, November 12, global youth climate campaigners with the Glasgow Actions Team, Make Polluters Pay Coalition, and allied networks will stage a striking banner drop outside the main COP30 entrance, transforming the area around the Blue Zone sign with bold calls for world leaders to ignore Trump and get to work.

The action takes place as negotiations open at COP30, with U.S. President Donald Trump notably absent. Activists from across the Global South and North are demanding that governments stop waiting for U.S. leadership and move forward on climate finance, fossil fuel phaseout, and loss and damage commitments.

The banner will span several meters and be accompanied by visuals and messages reinforcing the call for urgent global cooperation despite political obstruction from Washington.

“World leaders don’t need Donald Trump’s permission to save the planet,” said Andrew Nazdin, Director of the Glasgow Actions Team. “This COP must move from billions to trillions in real climate finance, end new oil and gas expansion, and deliver for frontline communities—regardless of who’s in the White House.”

“While Trump preaches “drill baby drill”, countries gathered here in Belém can prove the rest of the world is ready to lead,” added Louise Hutchins, Convenor of the Make Polluters Pay International Coalition. “The message is simple: ignore the noise, get to work, and make the polluters pay.”

This creative action sets the tone for the opening of COP30, sending a clear message that climate progress cannot wait on the whims of any single leader. Photos and video will be distributed immediately following the event.

Spokespeople from participating groups will be available for interviews on-site and remotely.
